• PhytoTank CL Copepod System

    $247.50

Grow copepods using the PhytoTank (patent pending) hassle-free culture system!  The kit includes two PhytoTank-L reactors: one for growing copepods and another to grow phytoplankton to feed your copepods and coral.  This kit includes the hardware you need to maintain a self-sustaining copepod colony to feed your reef tank inhabitants.  Starter cultures and air pump sold separately.  You will also have enough live phytoplankton to also feed your coral.

Features the PodNest-the combined aerator & copepod habitat.  The PodNest results in significant copepod culture density.  Also included is a large, 4-inch copepod sieve.

The integrated LED light provides uniform lighting for maximal growth and obviates the need for space-consuming banks of fluorescent lights.  Cultures take place in disposable culture bags and our durable rubber cap has bulkheads for disposable aeration and vent tubes.  So, there is no need to extensively clean or disinfect your PhytoTank between cultures.  Simply throw out the disposable items and start your next culture.

Need Copepod and Phytoplankton Starter Cultures?

Select Pods, Nano and/or Iso from the Drop-Down Menus

Important Information about selecting starter cultures:

Nannochloropsis Oculata:  Bright green Nano is hardy and easy to grow.  It can be refrigerated for up to 90 days and still effectively start a new culture.  After 90 days, refrigerated Nano may not start a new culture, but it is still nutritious for coral and zooplankton for up to five months.

Aeration:  Vigorous aeration promotes dense cultures and prevents aggregation and settling of phytoplankton.  We provide Quiet Air Pump 400 - Eheim pumps as an Add On and we will provide the appropriate air filter and valve assembly based on the number of PhytoTanks you order.

Our Phyto Guarantee:  If you purchase a system from www.poseidonreefsystems.com and your culture crashes for any reason we will provide free replacement starter cultures for a $19.50 shipping and handling charge.  Simply place an order for the Starter Culture Guarantee Fulfillment on our website (https://poseidonreefsystems.com/products/starter-culture-guarantee-fulfilment)

IMPORTANT SHIPPING INFORMATION:  Copepod systems will ship on Mondays and Wednesdays due to timing of our cultures.  All customers will receive automated emails with Tracking Numbers.  Sometimes these emails end up in your SPAM folders so please be on the lookout for that.  If you live on the West Coast your hardware and starter cultures (if ordered) may be shipped separately to ensure that your starter cultures spend the least amount of time in transit.  If you can't start your cultures immediately you can refrigerate the phyto, but do not refrigerate the pods.  Keep the pods at room temperature in indirect light.  Try to start your pod cultures as soon as possible.  We normally get 7-10 days of viability for pods in our pouches.

PhytoTank-L dimensions:  12 inches tall, 6 inches in diameter, 2lb 16 ounces when empty, working volume 3.5 Liters (118 ounces)

The PhytoTank LED system is NOT WATERPROOF.  Do not submerge your PhytoTank.  Proper use of the disposable culture bags will prevent contamination.  If cleaning is needed wipe the PhytoTank with a damp cloth.  As with all electrical aquarium equipment keep the power supply and power cords away from water.  Create a drip loop with your power cord to prevent water from contacting the electronics.
